What good progression actually feels like

Every mobile RPG has a level counter, but very few make leveling feel meaningful. A number going up is not progression. What we look for is the moment a build change opens a new way to play. The best games give you real choices at each step. Do you spec into raw damage or into support that keeps your party alive? Can you undo a bad choice without grinding for hours? When those questions have interesting answers, the whole game gets better. We've noticed the weaker games tie all their progression to time. You get stronger simply by playing longer, not by playing smarter. That kind of design fills a bar but never engages your brain, and it's usually the first sign a game won't hold up past chapter three. If you're picking a new RPG, try respeccing early. See if the game lets you experiment. A title that punishes curiosity is one you'll get bored of fast.
